Music Monday, 5/16: Grace Jones, Aaliyah, Bat For Lashes, Anna Calvi and more!

We’re lucky at Wear Your Voice for a lot of reasons. Our writers bring a wide mix of personalities and tastes, as well as a huge pool of knowledge and experience. This becomes especially apparent when we discuss music. One of those discussions inspired this week’s playlist.

This Music Monday offers a mix of killer covers. Covering another musician’s work can either go horribly wrong or really, really well. (We, of course, are only sharing the good ones!) In this playlist, modern R&B artist Trey Songz and all-female indie rockers Warpaint both cover music by the late David Bowie. These songs serve as a beautiful tribute to a deeply complicated individual who is not free from ethical critique but an utterly brilliant artist nonetheless.

What are your favorite covers? Leave a comment below and you may see your suggestion the next time we play an all-covers playlist!
