It’s finally #FatshionFebruary again, and no matter what other meaning this month holds for you, I have no doubt that if you are a fatshion-forward babe like myself, it is one of the most inspiring times of the year, celebrating the clothing and confidence of fat, bold babes. After covering this herstorical social media sensation last year, I couldn’t wait to dive into the hashtag’s treasure trove on Instagram. While I had a great time doing so, I ultimately had to narrow down thousands of posts to the 21 featured below. Wear Your Voice hopes that they inspire you to love yourself enough to wear whatever the eff you want every month of the year!

This bold babe has officially made me a fan of skulls, especially when pulled off in such a whimsical and creative manner. The pentagram style of the dress’ top is balanced by the brilliant pink color pop from the flower crown (not to mention the burgundy lip color). So much love for this look!

“Obsessed with this entire look” would be an understatement. Featuring the disco ball bandeau top from Chubby Cartwheels, this bold babe sparkles from underneath their black lace top, which, paired with such a daringly short mini-skirt, is everything.

I couldn’t choose between the flawless looks this feminist babe rocks on their Instagram account so I showcased both of my favorites. I especially love how the gold choker and black fedora remain consistent in both looks, and yet the first look reads like the chic night-out version of the second, ’90s-esque outfit, complete with the cutest teddy bear tights I’ve ever seen! These looks not only inspire me, but they have me hooked, wondering what others I may see featured before the month is up!

The nearly sweet-natured vibe of this look is perfectly balanced by this fatshionista’s edgy and colorful coif. I’ll forever be a sucker for bright color and pattern combos, and the almost-unexpected green tights truly serve the purpose of tying the entire outfit together.

This lovely look has us swooning for the sea — and all attire that reminds us of it. This stunning day dress with fabulously surprising shapes and cuts offers a subtle nod to the nautical life (the amazing Seattle backdrop doesn’t hurt, either). Paired with some cute and semi-functional boat shoes, I’d be so ready for a sail around the harbor in this!

I’m living for the close-up and zoomed-out versions of this look, which really offer the layers of visual brilliance that this bombshell is providing. Not only are their eyebrows, lipstick color and turquoise-hued hair on point, but their black-and-white mix-and-match is pretty much to die for, fatshionably speaking. I’m in love with the vintage look of the skirt paired with the more punk pattern of the chunky shoes. Everything about this screams, “Yes please” to me!

This Valentine’s Day-inspired look reads like a sensuous dose of self-love. Forget the cherry on top; the red lacy lingerie is delightful, especially paired with those thigh-highs, and the entire look features the body in its natural form, front and center.

There’s nothing like a see-through tease to get my fatshion senses flowing. The fact that the brilliant hue of blue in this babe’s hair matches the iridescent flowers on their dress is almost too much goddess goodness for me to take in one outfit. I consider this to be more than a fatshion moment; a major celebration-of-body moment.

This might be one of my favorite photographic moments of the bunch. This face reads to me as if this phenomenally fatshionable human being gives zero fucks about what anyone thinks, and yet reads HELLA cool and somehow grungy-chic (if that isn’t a thing, it is now). This is one of the first times I’ve ever seen ripped jeans pulled off so flawlessly, as well!

This babe is clearly ready for business, but oh how pleasurable they make it look!  I love the pops of tan throughout the look, breaking up the white and adding a fun, yet sophisticated, element. That bun is absolute perfection — as is the way this beauty clearly owns and rocks her body in this model moment.

I am still living for this mini-photoshoot, which captured a look fit for an alternative snow queen, complete with hot pink and teal tips in their hair. Love the daringness to wear winter white literally in the winter snow and the regal air that the faux-fur coat provides.

Could this bold babe be any more adorable?! I love how their bright purple headscarf lends a pop of color to top off this well-balanced look, which showcases more subdued colors in an interesting and integrated way, culminating in the pattern of their dress (which we are digging).

Of course we had to highlight our WYV friend and supporter, but this time we chose to feature a more down-to-earth look of hers. We love that this whole shot reads super au naturale, and yet we still feel the intensity of her eyes behind her glasses. We also appreciate the color of these jeans (and now we want them for ourselves, if anyone knows the origin). It’s great seeing them featured on a fat body from the side, which is often still avoided in plus-size modeling.

Not only do I love the seeming simplicity of the outfit sported by our featured babe on the left, but I love the #fatshionfebruary support from their ally and friend to the right in this similarly-styled look. Both read ’90s-inspired to me, and both feature the favored footwear of my actual ’90s youth: Doc Martens!

What can I say? I’m a sucker for a flower crown, and this one is no exception. Having it paired with this feminine and flirty dress in such a unique pattern and color combo (perfectly balancing out said flower crown), however, has me absolutely swooning. Gotta love the red lippy too!

Pixie blue stardust-esque hair? Check. Fierce facial expressions? Check. Short jean shorts & a crop topped sweater? Check. French fry purse and pizza socks? SOLD! seriously IN LOVE with this look and the bold babe rocking it.

When we came across this post from the amazing ReDress, we knew it had to be featured on this list: “Our Teggings Cage Mini Dress is in stock in classic black AND this rich, gorgeous burgundy! @gracemachine32 basically gave us heart palpitations in this little Valentine’s Day number, but we’d love to see how you style it, too! It’s super versatile, and you can wear it under a long skirt, with a shirt tied over it, or with leggings and a kimono! There’s so many ways to wear it and they’re all super sexy!”

This very chic and put-together babe almost reminds me of a fat Kate Spade, with their ridiculously adorable top and the glimmering look in their eyes that’s making me want to go organize my closet!

Wistful, wondrous and warm — those are the first three adjectives that came to mind when I first glimpsed this outfit. Although it’s featured in February, the ensemble has me craving an autumnal stroll on a New England college campus. The oversized buttercup sweater and black booties add the perfect finishing elements to the look.

I absolutely love how this bold babe can transform an everyday black pencil skirt and black dress pants by strategically and fatshionably selecting unexpected blouse and sweater-sets, making the look more unique to their sensibilities. (I especially love the mix of black-and-white polka dots with colorful horizontal stripes, because it’s like killing two dumb fashion rules with one stone)!

This list would not be complete without featuring at least one of our very own team WYV members. (Shoutout: Aarti!) I absolutely love the look and length of this body-con dress, and the color looks killer on her curves. I also enjoy the balanced pop of differing and darker colors and textures provided by the bold necklace.

Being raised in New England, the west coast has always felt like a breath of progressive, laid-back, open-minded, fashion-forward air to my free-spirited soul, which is what drew me to California. Escaping the more cookie-cutter traditional white picket fence life, has led me on an adventurous journey toward self-love and acceptance, and ultimately body positivity! I am in Oakland, because I moved to the Bay Area for graduate school to become a licensed Somatic Psychotherapist, and after exploring different city options, I discovered that the eclectic, unique, and honest vibe of Oakland resonated with my funky spirit and style! My role in WYV as Senior Columnist is producing weekly articles on Body Positive Fashion, Fat Acceptance, and many of my other passions such as social justice, childcare, and chronic illness advocacy. Of course I'm constantly being inspired by my very diverse (fashionably and otherwise) Oakland peers, local business owners, and fat/body positive activists!
